Hunt & Co., very late usage at Edenton Ohio (2 different cancels clearly struck, one ties a 1955 rehabilitation seal), slight curl to the paper, one corner multiply creased but not into image, long surface crack in the glossy finish. The caption should read R.M.S. Celtic, which was registered to the White Star Line in 1901. The Steamer Eastland capsized in the Chicago River 7/14/15 with horrific loss of life. Over 1200 people perished. The postcards showing this ship and the disaster became instant collectors items and are elusive to this date. These postcards are in collectible condition. No dogs. A minor fault here or there that is insignificant because of their historic importance. The postcards in the collection:

    Uncaptioned Azo real photo (triangles up) of the sidewheel steamer Yosemite, run aground July 9 1909 at Orchard Narrows Washington near Bremerton, and a total loss. [The same ill-fated ship whose boilers blew in San Francisco Bay in 1865 killing 50]. Possibly unique because of the lack of caption; many people came out to see it and took pictures of their own. Unused regular size postcard showing its Douglas DC-4-1009 Skymaster flying over Melbourne Victoria, pertinent information under the caption, paper lightly browning with age, obviously airline issued (logo at bottom front center), trivial corner wear. On 26 June 1950 this plane crashed shortly after taking off from Guildford Airport in Western Australia. Only one passenger survived; the other 28 souls aboard perished. Note on classification: L-100 is the civilian version of what Lockheed called the L-382; C-130 is the military designation of the same aircraft. We are informed that all 5 Zambian Air Cargoes aircraft were civilian. Necessarily taken in the April 1966 - 1969 timeframe. Later this aircraft served Pacific Western Airlines, when incurring damage at Eureka Northwest Territory.
