INFLATION OF 1991-1992
MIRAFLORES LIMA POSTMASTER PROVISIONALS
Lot of 4 covers airmailed in 1992 - 1993 to Columbus Ohio with 0.90 meter strips of varying sizes on yellowish brown paper cut by hand from larger sheets, tied by cancels of the Miraflores Post Office at Lima. The recipient explained that the local practice was to do this when they ran out of stamps. We believe, therefore, these are on-cover examples of provisional stamps--locally printed in imperforate sheets & cut from it with scissors when needed. In the most interesting example, the date from the meter 17.12.92 is 16 days later than the hand cancel of 1 DIC, indicating that a batch would be made in the expectation it would be used for weeks. A worthy subject for further study. $185.00 for all four covers. c.1992 clear boxed-in-black AIR MAIL / VIA AEREA handstamp ties S / 1.00 tricentenario university coat-of-arms stamp to greeting-card size airmail cover to Ohio. This high value was unpriced used in the 1993 & 1998 Scott Catalogues. $7.50 pe Lot of 4 covers franked in 1993 with differing styles of meters then in use in Peru, all 0.90 airmail rate to Columbus Ohio. $4.50 for all To order from the pricelist above, please
