The Roosevelt referred to was Theodore Roosevelt who had just returned from Africa and was traveling about the US speaking on the New Nationalism & the Progressive Movement). The events referred to were arranged by the local Republican Party, and some mentioned were after Roosevelt's departure, giving an indication of the importance of his visit. $15.00 s(l)rpc

"Rifle-Meeker Stage Teddy" side view with 4 horses hitched to a stagecoach loaded with passengers, probably in summer because the driver Rory White was not wearing his usual bear-hide coat; sepia-tone Cyko real photo postcard circa 1907-1910, sharply focused on the vehicle, unimportant light toning & paste on back from album, slight oxidation. We speculate that the stage name 'Teddy' could have arisen from the Roosevelt of the same name, because he did spend time in Meeker and could well have once been its passenger!
