"74 NOS AEROPLANES. -- Airoplane de M. Esnault Pelterie" black & white carte postale, fairly fresh. This shows the first monoplane of the visionary Robert Esnault-Pelterie. It had internally braced wings, a lightweight engine of his design, the first completely enclosed streamlined fuselage (welded-steel tubing covered with red muslin), a large bicycle wheel at the front, smaller wheels at the end of both wings to maintain balance & a smaller wheel at the tail. A genius who was first challenged by erroneous information about the Wright machines, Esnault-Pelterie developed the joystick control,  conceptualized the aileron on the trailing edge of wings, proposed ballistic missiles, and predicted travel to the moon by rocket (with gimbaled nozzles!). $75.00 as

WHOLESALE EARLY SPANISH POST CARDS

Lot of 100 postcards from Spain, circa 1900 - 1940. All regular size, none badly damaged. Good variety of locations, principally the major cities--Barcelona, Burgos, Jerez de la Frontera, Madrid, Salamanca, Segovia, Sevilla, Toledo, etc. About 17 have undivided backs, so those are very early. About 44 have not been mailed. Many of those used were mailed from small towns in the United States in the 1950's or early 1960's--but they are much earlier cards used by someone who collected cancels on the back, not the views on the front.  Those mailed from Spain often have the stamps soaked off. Normal retail for these postcards is $1.25 to $3.50. You can't go wrong at $65.00 including first-class postage to a US address. Shipments to other countries: $74.00 including airmail postage. ws%
